Publishing Research
After 13 weeks of hard work, we are proud to announce that Christian Shire and Ryan Nisay have successfully completed a Independent Research Study on local pond and river ecosystems and hope to submit to publishing!
Abstract: Ponds and rivers are crucial aquatic ecosystems with distinct characteristics based on size, flow, and water quality metrics such as pH, salinity, temperature, and TDS. While general health metrics are well-established, regional variations in tolerance ranges exist. This study aimed to assess the health of three local water bodies by comparing real-time water quality data to established benchmarks.
Using an all-in-one water quality tester, we measured key metrics including pH, salinity, TDS, specific gravity, temperature, electric current, and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). Our results, in comparison to data from the NIH, EPA, and Kasco Marine, revealed that all three water bodies are in good health, with no significant pollution or ecological stress.
This study provides baseline data for local water quality and demonstrates the stability of these ecosystems under current conditions.
We were fortunate to be backed by a grant and supported by local parks. This work contributes to our ongoing efforts to monitor and protect local natural resources.
